A Wino's Heaven

Last Friday night Hubs and I went to place called Tastings with another couple, R and M.  I love going out with this couple because we are constantly looking for new things to do/try.  None of us had been to Tastings so we were all looking forward to trying something new.

There are several different ways that the 'experience' works.  A person can a.) purchase wine by the bottle which if you know what type wine you like this is the cheapest way to do it, b.) purchase wine by the glass or c.) purchase wine by the tasting.

If a person decides to purchase wine by the glass or the tasting they can either ask their server or go up to the wine desk to put XXX amount of dollars onto a wine 'debit card'.  Once a person gets their wine card and a wine glass they are free to wander the different selections (over 100 different types of wine).  All the wine is kept at its appropriate temperature in these dispensers.  Once a person finds the wine that they want to try they simply insert the debit card, hold their glass under the dispenser for that bottle and push once for a tasting or twice for a glass.  An electronic panel on the dispenser where you insert your debit card will flash how much is left on your card.  Each bottle has a electronic display that shows how much the wine is by the tasting, glass or bottle.
Sorry about the bluriness.  I was trying to grab a quick picture of the wine card while Hubs and R made fun of me for taking pictures.  They obviously don't understand the importance of capturing the memories/blogging!

The seating at Tastings is all open seating.  You can sit at the bar, bar tables that surround the bar or cozy couches/chairs that are around the outside of the bar.  Tastings has a great menu that offers a large variety of different foods.  We ordered the Mediterranean Sampler (red pepper humus, white bean, spinach artichoke), Sesame Encrusted Tuna, Goat Cheese and Sun-dried Tomato Crostini, and a cheese platter that consisted of Aged Gouda, Smoked Rambol, Gorgonzola and Prosciutto.  As you can see they have quite the variety.  They also offer pizzas and sandwiches.
The inside of Tastings.  If you look at the back wall of the picture you can see the wine dispensers.  That section of the wall was Chardonnays. The section for the red wines was HUGE!

All in all I thought this was a great experience! The food was excellent, the service was fabulous and the company was amazing as always.  I highly recommend going to Tastings.  It is a great way to discover new wines for a decent price.  I came away from the experience with two new wines that I love!

After Tastings we headed over to Scotty's Brewhouse to enjoy the gorgeous evening!  The Scotty's downtown has an AH-MAZING patio.  It seats hundreds of people and has a huge fire pit in the middle that is surrounded by one large section couch that can seat several groups of people.  Needless to say the four of us enjoyed drinks around the fire pit in the beautiful weather.  Sorry, I tried to find a picture of the huge patio area but couldn't really find any that did it justice.

Have a great Tuesday!
