Coming Soon.....

I am drifting off the path of wedding blogging due to a request from one of my readers. I will be posting some pictures of our "babies" this weekend......aka- our English Bulldogs- Buerly and Rooney. I am hoping to get some great pictures of the two of them playing the snow (all 13 inches of it). It is hysterical watching our 7 month old puppy hopping through the snow.

So please excuse my lack of wedding posts over the weekend. I love any and every opportunity to brag about our "children." (And if I can find/figure out how to work our camera with the computer I may post a clip of the two crazies playing in the snow)

Stay tuned.

HAVE A GREAT FRIDAY! And of course.....I leave you with a picture.

Getting to Know You!

I got tagged by Caitlin over at Think Happy Thoughts... so here we go!

Step 1: respond and rework—answer the questions on your own blog, replace one question that you dislike with a question of your own invention, add one more question of your own.

Step 2: tag—eight other un-tagged people .

Favorite football team: Indianapolis Colts!!!!

What are you wearing now? Well since we decided to get 13 inches of snow I have on skinny jeans, black and white camisole, black North Face fleece, and black Ugg boots

What color is your bedroom? cream and mocha walls and the rest is mixed and matched furniture (definitely a post wedding purchase- new bedroom furniture)

What’s the last thing you read/are currently reading? A bridal magazine - Martha Stewart Wedding

Do you nap a lot? Sometimes, but I wish I could nap more!

Who was the last person you hugged? My FH

What’s your current obsession/addiction? My blog and planning my wedding.

What was the last thing you said aloud? Is it time to go home yet?!?

What websites do you always visit when you go online? My blog, the blogs that I follow, and news sources

What was the last thing you bought? I paid for my hair appointment

What are you listening to right now? Clicking computer keys as I type this out

What movie are (or were!) you most excited to show your kids? Any of the Pixar movies (they do such a phenomenal job on their movies)

If you could have any super power, what would it be? The power to make/keep anyone including myself healthy

What is your favorite weather, and why? Warm, sunny summer days when I don't have to work and I can lounge by the pool or work in the yard. I also like snowy days where I can either play in the snow with my two dogs or snuggle under a blanket by the fireplace. I guess it depends on my mood.

What time do you usually get up? 6:00am I have thought about attempting to workout prior to going to work but I laughed at the thought when I remembered how many times I hit snooze before dragging myself out of bed.

What is your most challenging goal right now? Trying to eat healthier, work out, and lose weight- I am addicted to cheese and since I don't like milk I make up for it with cheese. The bad things taste the best and I need someone to force me to work out.

Say something to the person who tagged you: Thanks for tagging me and I look forward to following your blog (I just added you to my google reader)

If you could have a house–totally paid for, fully furnished–anywhere in the world, where would you want it to be? I think I would still want it right where I am now. I am such a family person and I love the state that I live in (it is a great place to raise a family)

Favorite vacation spot? Oh my gosh! I don't think I can narrow it down to one so I will name a few- Australia (GORGEOUS and well worth the 20 something hour flight), Maui, Aruba, and of course - Disney World (honeymoon spot)

What is your favorite children’s book? Are You My Mother by Dr. Zeuss

Name one thing you just can’t resist no matter how bad it is for you: FULL FAT CHEESE! And taco bell (Caitlin- I am not changing your response because I couldn't agree with you more) OH! I would also add mashed potatoes (with cheese on top of course)

What gives you goosebumps (the good kind) ?? Thinking about our wedding and eventually starting a family with my FH.

If you could have any job in the world , what would it be? A successful personal trainer (because that means I would have to be in

To Dream, Le Sigh

Dear Wedding Fairy -

I think I have died and gone to heaven! I love, want, dream, and drool all at the same time over these two beautiful pieces!!! The price to pay for these beauties is minimal (actually it's not but it sounds good) for the added beauty on my wedding day! Please somehow find these items discounted at 50%-75% off (or hit the lottery) and send these pretty pieces my way. I promise, my cake will look even more amazing sitting on this heavenly cake stand and our pictures of cutting the cake will be even more spectacular holding this cake cutting set in our hands! These pieces will not disappoint, Wedding Fairy.

Yours truly,

A Hoping and Wishing Bride

Aren't these pieces to die for?!? I am in love!

Are there any big splurge items that you are purchasing for your wedding day?!?

Invitations, Part Deux

I am very excited and happy to announce that my invitation dilemma has been solved! The very talented and completely awesome April Foster of April Foster Events is going to be creating our invitations for our wedding. My mom and I met with her last Wednesday and were very impressed with the work that she has done in the past.

Here is an example of the work that she has done (LOVE the color scheme)-

All photos via April Foster Events

April was so easy to work with during our first meeting! I highly recommend working with April for wedding invitations. Her prices are great, her prior work is phenomenal, and she is a very nice person. I loved the fact that I was able to see actual invitations that she had done versus being handed the HUGE book of invites that is supplied by the different invitation manufacturers. Those books can be very overwhelming!!!

I cannot wait to see the finished product.

Speaking of finished product - once I receive the invitations I will be shipping my envelopes over to Jessica at Tying the Knot (the official launch of her business, Penned & Pretty, is today.....YAY!) to be addressed. Her styles are so cute and VERY affordable! Check out the official blog of her new business, Penned & Pretty.

Between April and Jessica, I am going to have the most gorgeous wedding invitations (yes, I am biased). I am so excited!!!!

Do you already have your invitations? Have you thought about hiring someone to address the invitations? Let me know your thoughts!

One of the things floating in the back of mind are toasting flutes. It really isn't a big deal but I know that it is something that I will eventually have to tackle.

Well, consider the champagne flutes officially tackled! My mother so eagerly reminded me of a very special gift I received a little over 9 years ago from my parents.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you......

.......the Waterford Millennium Toasting Flutes. My mom and dad had purchased these for me in 1999 knowing that the flutes would 1.) be a collectors item and 2.) that I would eventually get married and need toasting flutes. These flutes are very special to me since they came from my parents and are no longer made. Hopefully these babies don't get broken (Stephanie- please make sure that I don't break these!!!!)

Are you using a special glass for your toast?

Tonight I have an appointment to meet with the fabulous April Foster of April Foster Events. I couldn't be more excited especially after my last invitation appointment with Kay Krober ($2,000+ for 150 invitations and that price was still growing.....ouch).

April made the invitations for my friend Jessica at Tying the Knot. Here are a few pictures of the beauties-
Photos via Tying the Knot

Jessica's invitations turned out absolutely gorgeous between Jessica's vision and April's amazing work. They are the same set up as I had envisioned for my invitations. I love that the invitation is on the front with a kangaroo pocket attached to the back containing all the details (i.e.- RSVP card, directions, accommodations, and reception information). I think her invitation was the first wedding invite I received that I didn't misplace pieces of the invite. Plus they look absolutely adorable!

Keep your fingers crossed!!!! I am meeting with April tonight to discuss invitations, save the dates, and possibly programs! Hopefully I will have good news to post about tomorrow!

Shoes Truely Are a Girl's Best Friend

I received a call from my mom last night informing me that my shoes had arrived. You could only imagine the excitement and urge to drive over there as fast as possible. Luckily, the FH and myself were going out to dinner with my parents so we were already planning on swinging by my parents house.

When we got to my parent's house I was almost anxious......What if they didn't fit? What if they looked like crap? All these things ran through my mind.......over shoes! I quickly opened the box and tore off my socks to try those babies on.

It was like the Heavens shined down on me and a chorus of angels sang! I felt like Cinderella when the glass slipper was slid onto her foot!

Okay, maybe not to that extent but it felt great because the shoes fit perfectly and looked great!!! And another awesome part about these shoes......I am not taller than the FH in these shoes. Though, he joked that he would just buy some platform shoes to go along with the powder blue tux that he jokes about wearing (over my dead body will he walk down that aisle in a powder blue tux).

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you my wedding day shoes. One more item to check off the list!

Unfortunately, the taupe pumps that I found for the Bridesmaids did not work out so I am still in the hunt for taupe pumps. If anyone has any suggestions or has seen a pair of taupe pumps the help would be greatly appreciated! Have a great Tuesday!

Shoes.....A Girls Best Friend

Quick update- I was browsing through a few websites drooling over all the clothing, shoes and purses that I should not spend money on when low and behold.....Peep Toe Satin Pumps in Taupe at a pretty good price! (It is VERY hard to find cute taupe colored shoes) Yes, you heard me correctly........pretty good price.
Steve Madden - $59.99 at Victoria Secret

The Bridesmaid dresses are taupe and champagne......what do we think of these shoes in taupe for the bridesmaids?!? (Any of my bridesmaids reading this please please please give me your input because you could be wearing these.)

I was feeling really lucky so I jumped onto Steve Madden's website to see what else I could find and looky what I found -

Unfortunately, my luck ran out.......they were sold out of my size in the champagne color. *GASP* * TEAR*

When I got off of work I ran home to call Steve Madden's Customer Service line to see if the website was correct and/or see if they would be getting this shoe back in stock. Much to my amazement the lady informed me that they had ONE pair left in my size in the champagne color in the warehouse........SOLD!!!!! I immediately grabbed those suckers up!

I will be receiving my shoes in 1-3 weeks which will give me plenty of time to break them in. Also, if by chance I don't like them I still have plenty of time to keep searching! I AM SO EXCITED!!!!

I would love to hear your thoughts on these beauties. So, what do you think of these as my wedding day shoes?!?

Snacks, Anyone?

How many times have you eaten your dinner, had your dessert, but then had a taste for something salty?!? This, ladies and gentlemen, happens to me all the time and I am sure that it happens to others out there. Not only will we have a wedding cake and a candy bar but we will also attempt to have a snack bar that will be put out after dinner, i.e.- pretzels, chips, etc. My future sister-in-law had this for her wedding and it was a hit!!!!

There are two good reasons to have a snack bar on top of the of candy bar-
  1. After eating cake and candy some tend to crave salty foods to balance their taste buds out. Something bland like pretzels can also neutralize your stomach if you overload on sweets (I do this a lot.....but cake is soooo yummy).
  2. People drink during the cocktail hour but then a lot of times the bar is closed during dinner and doesn't open back up until the dancing begins. People will refill drinks and probably tend to drink more after dinner so a snack would be great to keep food in their stomach absorbing that alcohol.
The tricky part is how to make the snacks look classier than typical snacks. I will be buying over-sized circular vases to put snacks in as long as the caterer's clear it. NOTE - Be sure to check with your caterers before planning a snack bar. Some caterers will not allow you to put out a snack bar unless you do it through the catering company.

I will keep you posted about what our caterer says regarding the snack bar!

Anyone else thinking about doing something like this?

The Oh-So Popular Candy Bar

The Candy Bar has become a popular item at weddings as of late. One of my good friends, Jessica, from college had a spectacular candy bar (you can see her thoughts here on whether to have the candy bar or not). Most candy bars have various sizes of apothecary jars filled with yummy candy. I will definitely be jumping onto the bandwagon with the candy bar but I am wondering if the apothecary jars will be over used by the time I get married in August. I am considering using various sizes of vases instead, example -

Photo via Candy Favorites

I love everything about this picture - the different shapes/sizes/colors (fits perfectly with my wedding colors/look). Here are the five major items I need to recreate my vision- 1. Vases (various shapes and sizes), 2. Scoops, 3. Bulk Candy, 4. Bags, and 5. Ribbon

1. Vases (various shapes and sizes): Save-on-Crafts is a great, affordable place to look for glassware in various shapes and sizes. Here are a few vases that I found-

How pretty would it be to strategically tie taupe or champagne colored ribbon to a couple of the vases?!? I am also going to look at Target, Old Time Pottery, Tuesday Morning, and Ikea for vases at discount prices.

2. Scoops: I have not decided whether I want metal, clear or white scoops. Any thoughts or suggestions?!?
Photo via We've Got the Scoop
Very cute!!!!
The scoop pictured above is $2.66/scoop......very affordable!

3. Bulk Candy: HELP!!! Definitely need help/suggestions on places to order the candy. All help would be greatly appreciated. I have looked at Bulk but am not sure of the quality. If you are having a candy bar, where are you getting your candy from?

4. Bags: Glassine bags are perfect for any type of candy (nuts, jelly beans, chocolates, cookies, etc.). The lining prevents grease and moisture from absorbing through the bag. Glassine Bags in a variety of colors can be found here.
I would like to create a sticker of our monogram (DIY project) to put with the bags so that guests can seal their bag shut with the monogram sticker. And/or I will also create a stamp of our monogram and stamp the center of the bags (maybe).

5. Ribbon: I am actually handing the reigns over to my mom. My mom is the best when it comes to finding exactly what you want for a good price. Her, Joann Fabric, Michaels, and Hancock Fabrics are best of buddies so I have all the faith in the world that my mom will be able to find the perfect ribbon!
Another option- our florist can order ribbon in any/every shade of color out there so I may see how much it is and ask him to order extra ribbon so that all the ribbon matches exactly!

Well, hopefully my vision turns out as pretty as the picture at the top of this post!

Are you creating a candy bar for your wedding?

The Groomsmen's Gifts

I have covered ideas for the Bridesmaids so on to the Groomsmen. There are so many different personalities among our Groomsmen, i.e.- some like golf others like baseball, some hate golf, etc. And to make it even easier {sarcastic humor} my FH is still trying to decide on the last couple of guys to ask. So you can see my dilemma for finding something that all the Groomsmen may potentially enjoy (since I am not sure who they all are yet.....I love my FH....hehe). Here are some of my potential finds-

My FH did not want to give flasks or beer glasses since he felt like this was a common gift to receive as a Groomsmen (and overdone). I showed him some of these ideas and he loved them and thought they were good ideas. At least I have the vote of approval from him thus far!

And we mustn't forget.....

Taupe Argyle Socks - Banana Republic

.......the argyle socks to coordinate with the wedding colors - taupe and champagne.

What do you think?!? Any suggestions?!?

Bridesmaid Gifts

I have been thinking long and hard about what to buy for each of my Bridesmaids. I have already purchased some of the gifts but I can't share with you what I bought because some of my Bridesmaids read this blog and I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise (sorry Jessica). Here are some other ideas that I found while searching/continuing to search for gifts. I thought a lot of these were really cute.

Wine Glass (Lipstick) by Lolita ($25) - Von Maur

Martini Glass (Glamour) by Lolita ($25) - Von Maur

Personalized Tote ($26.95) - My Bridesmaid Gifts

Personalized Tote w/ Damask interior ($39) - My Bridesmaid Gifts

Flip Flops (personalize the color - $15) - Dessy

Personalized Double Strand Pearl Necklace ($26) - My Wedding Favors

Last but not favorite! Twisted Pearl Necklace ($94.95) - American Bridal.
Too bad this necklace is outrageous in price....sorry girls!!!

I love the totes pictured above (especially the tote with the Damask interior) but for 8 bridesmaids those totes could get very expensive. So another idea is to create a DIY tote. The tote below is from Bath and Body Works for $6 (I know! So cheap!).

You can find iron on letters from places like Joann Fabric , Michaels, etc.
Iron on Letters - Joann Fabric ($1.99)

And TA-DA! Easy/affordable Bridesmaid gift. If you are looking for totes also check Victoria's Secret. They typically have totes and when they switch floor settings they mark them down pretty cheap (I know this because my mom has to Christmas shop for 5 siblings and their spouses and 18 grandchildren/spouses so she is always looking for deals).

What fun ideas do you have/used for Bridesmaid gifts?!?

Happy Friday!!!!

Rehearsal Dinner

The search for a location for our rehearsal dinner was pretty easy. We knew that we wanted something downtown (close to the Scottish Rite Cathedral where our wedding will take place).

We discovered Harry & Izzy's while searching for wedding venues. We thought that the food was incredible and the menu offered a variety of options. The restaurant is owned by the same people who started St. Elmo's (if you are in Indianapolis it is arguably the best steak house and is known for the BEST shrimp cocktail......pricey but well worth it). Harry and Izzy's is an upscale sports bar/restaurant that has many of the same dishes that St. Elmo serves but also has their own unique menu items (such as- fillet mignon burgers with a horseradish sauce and the famous St. Elmo shrimp cocktail.....I am getting hungry just thinking about it!). Inevitably we knew that we had to have Harry and Izzy's as our location for our rehearsal dinner. After Rich's family ate at Harry & Izzy's while visiting it was settled- Harry & Izzy's was definitely the place for our rehearsal dinner.

Here are some pictures of Harry & Izzy's. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any pictures of the room that we will be in for the dinner but the room is awesome! The room is located on the second floor of the restaurant and has a private set of stairs that only go to that room. The room looks out over the entire restaurant.

How was your search for rehearsal dinner locations?!?

Color Scheme

With a new year comes lots to do! My florist (David) told me that after the new year we would get together and get down and dirty creating the centerpieces for my wedding. Well, it is 2009 and I need to really think about what my vision is for our reception centerpieces.

Our reception is in the grand ballroom at the Scottish Rite Cathedral. The ballroom has a gold tone to the room that makes it feel very royal/elegant. My wedding colors are taupe and champagne and I have decided that I want to add another accent color to the color scheme for the centerpieces.

Green- with the room having a gold hue I think that green would really pop! All accents will stick to our main wedding colors (taupe and champagne) but I really want the centerpieces to be tall, lush, and green. Here are some pictures that I found of green centerpieces-

I LOVE the idea of having a wine or champagne bottle as the table number!!! Must remember this for my wedding!

All photos via The Knot

Any thoughts or suggestions?!?

Love This Wedding!

I was doing my usual morning browse through photographer blogs and this wedding caught my eye-

Love the color of the bridesmaid dresses....very elegant! Also, I like the picture of the dress hanging but I would definitely utilize a prettier hanger!

Gorgeous center pieces (and venue)!

How awesome is this picture?!? I love how all the guests are looking on at the couple in the center!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this ring shot! So unique!

Have a great Tuesday!
