Pathetic Doggie Momma Over Here

Yep, you read the title to this post correctly- I am a pathetic doggie momma! Read on and you will see why!  lol

My little guy, Buerly, turns 4 years old tomorrow.  I cannot believe that he is already four, it seems like just yesterday we drove several hours to go get the little booger! So with that said, let the birthday festivities begin!

Buerly with one of his 'babies' right before Christmas.  He used to never go to bed without his baby.  He would chew on the baby's foot and kneed it with his paws until he fell asleep.  It was the sweetest thing!

Today I dropped Buerly and Rooney off at Barkefellers for groom and play (you can read here about their first groom and play experience at doggie daycare).  They were so unbelievably excited.  As I turned onto the main street that runs in front of the facility Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum were jumping around in the back seat whining because they were ready to get out of the car.  As I was lifting Rooney out of the car Buerly decided that he was tired of waiting so he jumped out of our SUV which he NEVER does!  Hopefully they will have lots of fun today playing in the pools and getting pampered.

At lunch I am running to 3 Dog Bakery to pick up a personalized cake for Mr. Buerly as well as a few treats and toys.  He won't get any of this until tomorrow on his actual birthday. And of course I will pick up a little something for Rooney so that he doesn't get too jealous of his big brother.

Hopefully tomorrow the weather will be nice outside so that I can give Buerly his cake outside on the deck.  If you have ever seen my dogs, especially Rooney, eat you will know exactly why I don't want to give them this cake in the house.  Plus if we are outside our neighbor's dog, Mac, will get to come join in.

Since the boys will be completely worn out from groom and play, Hubs and I are going with another couple to Tastings tonight.  The concept of this wine bar/bistro is so intriguing.  Read here for a better description of how it works.

Drawing a Blank

I really don't have one thing that I want to talk about today so I figured I would just post my random thoughts.  I tend to have lots of those! lol

• I have had a dull ache/pain in my foot for days now.  It hurts anytime I walk on it so I decided for hoots that I would look it up on WedMD this morning.  My WebMD Diagnosis: broken (fractured) foot, sciatica, peripheral neuropathy, metatarsalgia, corns/calluses, osteomyelitis, stress fracture, poorly fitting shoes, lumbar spinal stenosis, multiple sclerosis, thoracic spinal stenosis, or shingles.  But for the first time ever WebMD didn't tell me I had cancer.  Amazing!  I am guessing that I tweaked something in my foot and in a week or so it will be fine.  Good ol' WebMD, always good for a health scare! lol 
• I love Panera's new Jalapeno Cheddar bagels.  YUM!
• Jake Pavelka (from the Bachelor and now DWTS) annoys the crap out of me.  He just comes off as being extremely cheesy and fake.  Maybe him and Vienna deserve each other.
• The Hills made their final season debut last night.  I haven't watched it yet but am sadly excited to see what scripted drama unfolds.  Gotta love guilty pleasures!
• Speaking of guilty pleasures....I am also excited for the return of Jersey Shore.  GTL! haha
• I am so angry with our legal system (I know, what's new?!).  A guy that I used to work with at my prior job was also part of a charity group and served as treasurer.  This guy was a skeez ball.  Well, the idiot embezzled close to $400k from the charity.  He blew all of the money on his 'gambling addiction' in Vegas and on online gambling sights.  The jackoff was only sentenced to 3 years in prison but will get out in 2 years for good behavior.  THREE FREAKING YEARS!!! That's it?!? Oh it is a sad, sad day in our country's legal system.  A person who steals a junk car potentially will get 5-10 years but a guy who steals close to $400,000 from a charity only gets 3 years.  Where is the justice in that?!?  My only comfort is that he is a major pretty boy and will probably become someones b*tch in prison. I know, so mean of me to say.
• Is it Friday yet?!?  This week seems to be dragging!
• I don't know if others are having this problem but in the Midwest the weather clears off and is nice all week and then turns stormy and crappy out for the weekend.  What the eff?!
• Buerly's birthday is on Saturday.  Buerly and Rooney are going back to Barkefellers for groom and play on Friday.  During my lunch break on Friday I am picking up a birthday cake for Buerly from 3 Dog Bakery.  Oh and I invited our neighbors dog over for cake on Saturday.  It will be like a little birthday party.  Obviously we treat our dogs like they are our kids.  
• I cannot wait for BW3's tonight- beers and wings! Mmmmmmm!!

What's on Your DVR

There are several TV shows that you will find on our DVR that I watch each and every week.  Some are shows that both Hubs and I enjoy.  Others are shows that I love and Hubs usually makes fun of me for watching.

So here goes my list:

Gossip Girl on the CW

What is there not to love about Gossip Girl? This show has me hooked!  And of course I am on team Serena/Nate.  And shame on Lil J for messing with Serena and Nate (totally dislike her and her raccoon eyes.....lay off the eye liner).

I also love me some Blair.  She always cracks me up with her crazy schemes and her 'I will get what I want' attitude. 

Now onto the opposite coast.

90210 on the CW

I just recently started watching 90210.  I find myself constantly switching which characters I like and which characters I don't care for as the seasons go on.  Normally when I watch TV series I have a character that I love and I stick with that character as the seasons go on but not this show. 

As odd and crazy as it may sound I find myself sympathizing with Naomi even though she is so self-absorbed.  Maybe it is because she really doesn't have any family around to correct her when she comes up with her grand schemes.  Who knows, but I do love her hair!  And of course I don't think there is any way I could ever dislike Annie.  She is just so sweet in general.

 Secret Life of the American Teenager on ABC Family

LOVE this show!!! Deep down inside I hope that Ricky and Amy end up together.  I know, probably too fairytale for this show but one can always dream.  I do like how this show portrays how sex in high school can change lives and cause drama.  The writers have done a great job showing that having a baby young is not easy or loads of fun all the time. 

Amy's roller coaster emotions started getting on my nerves during the last season.  But I guess I would be an emotional roller coaster if I had a baby in high school too.  Who knows! 

Can Adrienne please keep her legs crossed?!? I am pretty sure you will find this girls name under the definition of promiscuous in Websters Dictionary.  

The Big Bang Theory on CBS

How can you not LOVE this show!? I pretty much love everything about it but Sheldon is the star of the show.  The producers/creators did an AH-MAZING job casting actors for this series.  

Glee on Fox

Between the songs and the characters I am highly addicted to this show.  The Madonna episode that was aired last week was pure genius because I definitely love me some Madonna.  Oh and Sue Sylvester is a riot! Once again, the producers/creators of this show did a fabulous job casting the perfect people.

Well blogland friends, in order to not drag this post out too long I will stop there.  Some of the other shows that I enjoy watching are: Real Housewives of NY, Real Housewives of OC, Gene Simons: Family Jewels, The Hills, Rules of Engagement, Modern Family, and Cougar Town.  Modern Family and Cougar Town are in the top ranks of my list but since I did a post about some of the characters a while back I figured I wouldn't repeat myself.

Age of Technology

As I was driving into work this morning I attempted to call Hubs to see how his drive to work was going.  You see, Hubs has a half an hour drive through crappy north-side traffic whereas I have a nice 15 minute drive with hardly any traffic.  I called.......no answer.  So I waited about 5 minutes and tried back.....no answer.  Panic started to set in.  Every terrible thing was flashing through my mind.   

What if he had gotten into a car accident?!? 

What if he was trapped and couldn't get to his cell phone?!? 

What if he was bleeding and unconscious?!? 

Yes, I am that crazy, paranoid person! I worry like crazy about anything and everything.  Ask Hubs, he will tell you that I worry enough for everyone in our family.

In the midst of my dramatic 'what if' thoughts the phone rang.....it was Hubs.  He was fine.  He wasn't lying in some ditch or trapped in a car, he was pulling into the parking lot at work.  Of course when I told him how worried I had been he just chuckled.  I imagine he also shook his head at the thought of his crazy wife having a mini panic attack ready to turn the car around to go hunt him down to make sure all was well.

After I hung up the phone I began to think- how big of a nut job would I be if I lived in a time when cell phones didn't exist?  It seems like everyone has a cell phone these days......well except for my dad.  

Think about it- people have the ability to get a hold of others wherever and whenever.  A person can easily pick up their phone to make sure that a loved one made it from Point A to Point B safely.  Without a cell phone we would have to rely on a land line to let us know that our loved one made it safely.  What if your car broke down on the side of the road?!?  Without a cell phone you would either have to hike or rely on a good Samaritan for help (and unfortunately in the world we live in today you can't always trust people).  Is it sad that I find it hard to imagine what it would be like now to not have a cell phone?  Or rather, how inconvenient life could be without one.  Obviously we rely heavily on our cell phones. 

But on the other end of the spectrum- is my worry derived from Hubs (or someone else) not answering their phone when they are typically so accessible?!  Because we carry our cell phone on us at all times we expect people to answer their phones.  When they don't answer our minds wander (or at least mine does).

What are your thoughts? Or am I just crazy?  Don't worry, you can be honest.....you won't hurt my feelings! lol

I Wake Up in the Morning Feeling Like P. Diddy......

......no not really.  Oh and I really hate that song but it seemed like a catchy title! lol

My brain seems to be in Never Neverland today so I thought I would do a product review of some of the products I use in the morning when getting ready (in no particular order).

Big Sexy Hair - Root Pump Plus

This product is AH-MAZING!!!! Coming from the girl with fine hair, volume is a constant battle for me.  This is the first product that has given me volume without making my hair greasy or ucky looking (yes, I used the term ucky).  And for the first time in my life I can actually wash my hair in the morning and go two days without having to wash it again.  TWO WHOLE DAYS!!!! Normally I have to wash my hair every single day if I want to wear it down but not anymore.  

The next four products are all from Bath and Body Works:

Bath & Body Works- Aromatherapy Body & Shine Shampoo/Conditioner

Energy- Orange Ginger

The shampoo and conditioner leave my hair smelling so yummy (at least this is what Hubs tells me except he doesn't use the word yummy). The conditioner is very light (remember- fine hair over here) which is perfect.  And I truly believe that the aroma gives you a little zap of energy in the morning.  This is coming from the morning hater who usually climbs into the shower with her eyes still shut cursing/wishing she was still in bed where her two spoiled rotten pups are snoozing away.

Bath & Body Works - Aromatherapy Body Wash (and lotion)

Energy- Orange Ginger

Sleep- Black Chamomile

In the morning I use the Orange Ginger body wash.  Once again, small zap of energy from the aroma.  At night I use the Black Chamomile body wash (sorry, I couldn't find a picture but it is a silvery-gray colored body wash).  This stuff is fabulous!  Just the smell alone calms and relaxes me.  The lotion is also wonderful.  Hell, anything from the Black Chamomile line is faboosh!  Highly recommend the pillow spray!

BADgal Lash from benefit (found at Sephora)

I don't go anywhere without at least putting on some mascara otherwise I feel naked.  This stuff is my best friend.  Goes on smooth and makes your lashes look full and long.  I never have clumping issues with this mascara.

Estee Lauder - Automatic Eye Pencil Duo in Jet Black

I have been using this eyeliner forever.  If they ever discontinue it I will cry! This little jewel is refillable so when you run out of eyeliner you just pull that end out and plop a new one in.  The other end is perfect for smudging to create the smoky look.  It is a little on the pricier side but is such a great product.  My big problem with eyeliners is that by the end of the day they run or smudge to the point where I look like I have raccoon eyes (or look really cracked out....take your pick).  I do not have that problem with this pencil.

Bobby Brown - Bronze Shimmer Brick Compact

I know, this product was made to be a bronzer but it works great as eye shadow.  I use the darker colors as my main eye shadow and then I highlight with the lighter color.  Not exactly what it was intended for but if the shoe fits!  Once again, this is a bit pricier but I have had my brick for over a year and am still using it almost every single day.  I am definitely getting my money's worth!

And lastly.....

Chi Ceramic Flat Iron

Oh how I love thee! I use this baby almost every morning (as long as I where my hair down).  My hair dresser highly recommended (aka- commanded) that I not be a cheap ass when it came to my flat iron.  She informed me that I would get what I paid for and that I should get a quality flat iron that would be less harsh on my hair.  So glad that I listened to her!

Well, that concludes my review!  Time to go back to La-La Land......

Doggie Daycare

Good morning! I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend!

This post is a little late but better late then never. Right?!

On Thursday I took Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum (aka- Buerly and Rooney) to be groomed.  Barkefeller's was running a special on a 'Groom and Play' package so we figured we would give it a try.  Our boys had never been to doggie daycare so I was a little nervous about how they would do with other dogs.

When I dropped them off I was told that they would do temperament testing to make sure that they could play well with others.  Is it sad that I was nervously awaiting the call from Barkefeller's?  I was so worried that I was going to be that momma with two boys who didn't play well with others.  Much to my relief the owner informed me that Buerly and Rooney passed!  My boys play well with others! :-)

The owner also told me that the staff was setting up 10-12 kiddie pools and getting ready to turn on the sprinklers for all the doggie daycare-ers.  I knew right then and there that doggie daycare would be a hit with our dogs.

When I picked Buerly and Rooney up from daycare they were EXHAUSTED!!!! They had just been groomed so they looked and smelled great!  Both boys crashed on the drive home and as soon as I let them in the house they immediately jumped up on the couches and were out for the rest of the night.

Awe! Buerly's little tongue is sticking out.  He only sticks his tongue out when he is REALLY exhausted!

Hehe! So sleepy! He can't keep his eyes open.  Pretty sure he was annoyed that I was taking pictures while we was trying to sleep.

Stinkys (my nickname for Rooney) is so tuckered out!  Normally he would attack the camera if I attempted to take a picture of him at this angle but he is too worn out to care.

Doggie Daycare = MAJOR SUCCESS!!!!

They received report cards after their day.  Buerly's report card said that he loved playing with the balls.  He especially loved a pink ball and guarded it often.  He also enjoyed playing in the pool.  Rooney's report card said that he was such a sweetie.  He loved playing in the pool.  He spent quite a bit of time in the pools and he even played on the play sets.

I was a proud momma! lol

After the success from the first visit we will DEFINITELY be sending our boys back to daycare!

UPDATE: My FIL is out of recovery and they have moved him to his own room.  Thank you all for the prayers!!!!  He is going to have to go back in 4 weeks for another procedure but we have at least gotten past this hurdle. Thank you again and I hope all you lovelies have a wonderful weekend!

Please say a prayer today for my father-in-law! He is undergoing angioplasty and having a stent put in this morning.  Unfortunately Hubs and I are not up north with our family at the hospital (darn jobs).  But my wonderful SIL T will be keeping me posted.

Dog Training: MAJOR FAIL

Houston we have a problem! Rooney has figured out that our new end tables are VERY sturdy so he thinks that he should play mountain goat on top of the end tables.  The other day I was sitting on the couch with Rooney.  He thought it would be a great idea to climb on top of the coffee table. He thought wrong! His little butt got smacked and was told no.  Next thing I know I had a 60 lbs bulldog in my lap pouting like a little baby.  {sigh}

Of course I am also the bad parent that took pictures of him misbehaving instead of correcting him right away.  lol

Oh and if billy goat Rooney isn't bad enough he also decided that playing in my Asiatic Lilies was a genius idea.  My poor lilies! His fur is now black, white and yellow.  Yes, yellow.  His face and neck are covered in the yellow pollen.  He reminds me of the kid with chocolate all over their face that swears they didn't touch the chocolate.  Looks like someone will be getting a bath VERY soon.

Loving This Weather!

Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

The weather was gorgeous all weekend here in the Midwest so of course Hubs and I had to take advantage of the sun.  Originally I planned on working in the yard all weekend......that didn't happen.  Instead we went golfing on Saturday and Sunday and now I am INCREDIBLY sore!

On Saturday Hubs and I played a round of 18 together.  He was Fred Couples and I was Phil Mickelson (I am a lefty like Phil).  Hell, we should have been competing in the Masters that way we played! J/K But we did have a blast!  I am almost positive that Saturday was the first time ever that it was just Hubs and I playing golf together.  Usually we go with my parents or friends.  I don't think I have ever had so much fun golfing as I did on Saturday.  We were so relaxed and just enjoyed each others company.  Fun + Relaxed = Much better golf game.  Plus we were really able to take time and help each other out with our golf game.  Oh and I birdied the 6th hole! First birdie of the season! :-)

On Sunday we decided to adventure back out but this time we played with my parents.  We woke up that morning excited and confident after the previous days golf play.  Let's just say our golf game was no where near as good as it was on Saturday.  Apparently my golf game decided to sleep in and stay home because it was no where to be found.  There were definitely some frustrating times but all in all we had fun and enjoyed the weather.

 Today I woke up to a very congested head (thank you allergies), incredibly sore arms, abs that kill when I laugh (or sneeze...thank you again allergies) and very roasty toasty shoulders/face/arms.  I have some VERY sexy tan lines that make farmer's tans look like child's play (NEVER wear your sunglasses for an entire round of golf). lol  But you know what?!? It was so worth it! I am so glad that we were able to spend two whole days outside enjoying the weather and each others company.

Hap Hap Happy Birthday!!!!

Happy Birthday Daddy!!!!

 This was the first time I saw my dad once I was in my wedding dress.  He started tearing up which of course had me bawling!

 This was taken right before the AFC playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens.  We pre-gamed at The Claddagh (fabulous Irish pub.....great food).

We originally were going to go out to dinner tonight for my Dad's birthday but after my parents crazy week I think we will wait until next week.  Mom and Dad went to the Final Four/National Championship Game with us (along with Hubs' parents and some friends).  On Tuesday, after a late night at the Title Game, they boarded a plane to head out to the Masters Practice round in Augusta, Georgia.  My parents plane landed at midnight last night and they were up bright and early for work today.  Needless to say......they are exhausted! Shoot! I am exhausted just thinking about their crazy schedule!

Haha! Don't we all wish!!!!! 

Back in high school I had this male math teacher that would always crack jokes in the middle of class.  His jokes tended to be along the lines of 'Get back in the kitchen' or 'Go make me a sandwich' jokes directed towards females.  All three senior female volleyball players (me included) had his class together.  None of us found his jokes very amusing.  One of my teammates would get SOOOO angry at these jokes! 

Now before people start a witch hunt against this teacher for his sexist jokes- I really don't think he truly felt that way towards women at all.  He wasn't a pig, he was very fair and helpful in the classroom, he had a girlfriend and he always treated her with the utmost respect.  I think he told those jokes because he knew it would get our attention {calculus.....last period of the day......we were probably daydreaming or dreading what form of torture our volleyball coach was about to put us through}.  I am not saying I agreed with using those jokes to get our attention but whatev.

This got me thinking.  It really wasn't that long ago that the roles of man and woman in the home were clearly defined.  Boy how that has changed.  No longer is the kitchen a place only for women or the yard a male's domain.  The once clearly drawn lines are now much more blurred.

It is amazing how many people look at me baffled when I tell them that I mow the lawn.  Trust me, Hubs offers to mow the lawn all the time but I tend to beat him to it or insist on taking care of it.  I find it therapeutic.  I know, that sounds crazy, but I do!  It is somewhat of a workout and it gives me a chance to think.  My only problem- allergies.

Hubs is a much better cook than me.  He can just throw a ton of ingredients together a VOILA! Dinner is served and tastes amazing!  I am definitely jealous of his natural talent.  I am a 'measure everything out, follow the recipe' kind of cook.

Now don't get me wrong, we haven't switched the role of chores on everything.  Hubs is my maintenance man! Just call him Tim the Tool Man Taylor {without all the accidents, fires and explosions}.  Haha!  He can fix almost anything......hole in the drywall.....no problem!  But the beauty of it is that a lot of times he teaches me how to do these things as he makes repairs.  I now know how to create a paver patio, mud a hole in the drywall, hang a cabinet, etc.

Now I won't toot my own horn too much because I have also learned the hard way that you do not, I repeat, do not just fill the entire oil tank in the lawnmower with oil.  Oops!

What chores do you do that were once viewed as an opposite gender role?
