Location for Our Big Day!

My fiance, Rich, and I trampled all over downtown last February when it was freezing cold outside trying to find the perfect location to host our wedding/reception. Every venue that we looked at was nice but didn't have that wow factor. Plus we wanted to have the wedding and the reception at the same place.
We had just looked at the Omni Severin and though it was beautiful, I didn't like the idea of the dance floor taking place in one room and the reception in another. At that point I was getting very frustrated because Rich and I had looked at a bunch of venues but I still hadn't found the perfect place. We had one last appointment that day before I would have to go back to the drawing board and start researching more places. Our last appointment was at the Scottish Rite Cathedral.

We met with the wedding coordinator, Ashley, and she took us on a tour. She showed us the theatre, where the ceremony would take place. She kept telling me about this back drop that looks like a church. At first it sounded cheesy until I saw it! It is actually two-dimensional and looks like it is a real church. So I was starting to get excited. Then, Ashley took us to the Grand Ballroom where the reception would take place and my eyes began to tear up immediately. At that moment I knew it was the perfect place for our wedding reception. It was so classy and elegant!

My fiances one stipulation was that it had to have a big area for a dance floor because he hates when the dance floor is too crowded! There is going to be plenty of room to dance at our wedding!
Here are some of the pictures of the Scottish Rite Cathedral:

The Grand Ballroom (notice- big dance floor!! The fiance will be happy)

The Grand Ballroom has this GORGEOUS chandelier in the center of the room. I want to have the cake in the center of the dance floor (which will also pretty much be the center of the room) directly under the chandelier.........Fabulous picture opportunity!!!

Wow!! That's so pretty!!

It's exciting that you're from Indianapolis!! Before you think I sound like a dork, I was born in Anderson and lived there until I was 9, so I have lots of fond memories. Right now I'm missing the fall weather! And occasionally during the winter I miss the snow!!
