Final Four Baby!!!!!

I would love to know where my weekend went! It definitely passed by way too fast.  Not to mention the weather was kind of crappy.  Oh well.  Anyone else feel like their weekend came and went in the blink of an eye?!?

BUT................

MY BUTLER BULLDOGS ARE FINAL FOUR BOUND!!!!!
This is huge for Butler University! This is the first time in school history to have a team get to the Final Four round and hopefully they do not stop there! I am so proud of our boys and very proud to be a Butler Bulldog!

To all the K. State fans- you played a heck of a game and about gave me a heart attack in the second half.  You definitely did not roll over and die even when you were down.  So great job K. State!

Oh, and of course after Butler won I had to jump online and purchase Final Four tickets!  Hubs, me, my parents, Hubs' parents, and my friend/bridesmaid and her husband (who was a groomsman) will all be sitting together for the big game against MSU. GO DAWGS!!!!

So, today at lunch I will be heading off to the Butler bookstore with a LONG list of items to pick up for friends and family.  Our six year old niece called yesterday to ask her favorite Uncle to pick her up a Butler t-shirt so that she could wear it to school on Thursday for 'Favorite Team Day."  Ummmmm......I am pretty sure that Hubs would buy her every t-shirt in the bookstore after receiving that phone call. lol

Lastly, the University is petitioning the NCAA to allow our mascot, Blue II, to be allowed to attend the Final Four.  It is tradition at home games that players pet Blue II on the head as they run out onto the court.  Blue II then goes running across the court to the 'Dawg Pound' (our student section) to get a HUGE rawhide bone which he then carries around.  So, keep your fingers crossed that the NCAA will show a little compassion and allow Blue II to be in attendance (he doesn't have to run across the court or any of that but it would be great TV if he did).  Plus, he just turned 6 years old and Butler is now the official host of the tournament!  Check out Blue II's blog here!
This is Blue II after his birthday party last year.  He just turned six last week and all he asked for for his birthday was to make it to the Final Four.  Well, he got his wish! :-)

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I know that I did! Have a great Monday!

TGIF!!!

I want to thank all of you for your prayers and your words of encouragement.  You have no idea how much I appreciated them and how much they helped me!  My Grandmother is doing okay.  We have come to terms with the fact that she will not be going home.  My mom and my aunt are currently in the process of finding a nursing home for her.  It is tough but we are praying that God will give us peace over all of this.

On to a happier note! So what do you think of my new blog makeover?!?  I have to say that I LOVE it! Can everyone read it okay?! Victoria at Rachel & Victoria Blog Designs did a fabulous job! She was amazing to work with and very quick at getting this little jewel done.  Their prices are VERY reasonable and Victoria did a great job of creating my vision.  I HIGHLY recommend that if you are thinking about a blog facelift that you contact these lovely ladies.  Thanks Victoria for making my blog look pretty! :-)

Lastly.........

My Butler Bulldogs are still dancing!!!! Elite 8 baby!  Last nights game was definitely a nail biter but our boys maintained 'the Butler Way' and came out on top!! But the Bulldogs won't get much rest because they play K State on Saturday at 4:30pm.  It will definitely be a tough game but if they can pull this game off our Bulldogs will be coming home to finish out the road in Indianapolis.  You can be darn sure Hubs and I will be purchasing some Final 4 tickets if that is the case!

GO DAWGS!!!!

Have a wonderful weekend!

I don't even know where to start with this post.

My Grandma has been battling dementia for a couple of years now (she is in her late 80's).  The disease came on quickly and has progressively gotten worse.  To make matters worse, she refuses to take the medication that would slow down the effects of the disease.  She claims that the medicine causes side effects (she also tried to claim that her osteoporosis medication caused side effects).

She no longer knows who I am or any of the other grandkids.  She confuses my mom with my aunt or forgets who they are completely.  And now she has gotten to the point where she doesn't recognize Grandpa.....her own husband.  It is so hard when I see her because she asks who I am.  Imagine having to introduce yourself to your own Grandma every time you see her.  And I know that she gets so frustrated because she can't remember.

She was taken to the hospital last night.  Physically she is doing great for her age but mentally she is a mess.

My mom and my aunt are devastated and worn out.  They have been taking care of EVERYTHING!  I feel like this has hit me like a ton of bricks today.  Please keep my family in your prayers.  As of right now we don't think that my Grandma will be able to go back home to their farm.  :-(   I am hoping we will find out more during the day today.

Customer Service

I feel like I hit the ground running and haven't stopped for almost two weeks now.  Hubs and I have been doing some big projects in our household.  And don't you worry! I will have PLENTY of pictures to share once we get completely finished (has to be by the end of the week). :-D

But until then I have to rant......sorry......

We recently made a large purchase from The Room Place.  I was so excited to receive our 'purchase.'  Well, upon delivery we discovered that two pieces were damaged.  The delivery guy noted the damage on his file and gave me the number to call to have it exchanged since the damage was obviously on their end.

Fast forward to today......

I called the customer service center to set up my delivery date for the exchange.  The very rude customer service lady informed me that I would have to put the damage against my warranty which meant I would have to contact the warranty company.  You may not think that this is a big deal but trust me, it is!  You see, the warranty is set up that if you don't file a claim against it in 5 years you are refunded the money you paid for the warranty.  Since the damage was NOT my fault I thought that it was crap that I would have to forfeit my potential warranty money.  This became more of an issue of ownership.

After about the 5th-6th rude comment I lost it.  I went all medieval on her.  She deserved it.  I told her that her customer service skills were lacking, that I was VERY disappointed with the service I had received and that I wanted to speak with a manager.  She told me that I couldn't talk to a manager until after 11am.  So I hung up on her.  I know, shame on me.  But had I stayed on the phone I probably wouldn't have said very nice things.
So I called the store where we had made the purchase.  Our sales guy was off today so I had to speak with the customer service at the store.  I explained to the nice customer service lady what had happened and how disappointed I was with my service.  I may or may not have threatened to return everything including the items that we are supposed to pick up on Wednesday.  Let's just say that she quickly apologized, scribbled down my number and made several calls.  It wasn't 5 minutes later before she called me back to let me know that everything was taken care of and that they could redeliver the items on Friday.

I think that The Room Place has great furniture and up until today I was very happy with their customer service.  Thanks to the nice customer service lady who fixed everything we will continue to shop there.

I hate being mean on the phone.  I really don't like getting angry to the point where I am shaking and near tears but I also expect good customer service especially when you pay good money for something.  And if you push me and are rude to me.....you better expect that I will be rude back to you.  I expect people to take ownership of their mistakes (or in this case, their damaged goods).  Some may think that I expect too much but I don't think I do.

Okay, I am done ranting today! The sun is out and I am going shopping on my lunch break. Good ol' Target always puts me in a good mood. Have a wonderful day!

Keep on Dancing!

That's right! My Bulldogs are still dancing!!!! Butler will take on No. 1 seeded Syracuse on Thursday, March 25th at 7:07 pm E.T.  It will be a tough game but if Butler plays their game I have no doubt in my mind they can upset Syracuse and move on to the Elite 8.  I would LOVE for our Bulldogs to make their way back home and play center stage in front of their home crowd.  But we will have to take everything one step at a time.

GOOOOO DAWGS!!!!!!

Other news:

I am SUPER excited! I checked the delivery status and I will be receiving my wall decal today in the mail! YIPPEE!!!! :-)

Hope you all have a wonderful Monday!

HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY!!!!!

Hehe! This picture makes me giggle!

I hope you all are having a wonderful St. Patty's Day, possibly filled with some green beer or Irish car bombs {Hubs fav}.  Hubs and I plan on hanging around the house with our two bullies tonight (the fact that both of our cars have expired tags has nothing to do with it......riiiiiiight! Don't worry, the tags are in the mail).  Thanks to this GORGEOUS weather we will be drinking beers on the deck and grilling out.  I couldn't ask for a better St. Patty's Day!  Anyone have big plans for today?!?

On to other news:

Thank you to all the people who voted/left comments on my wall decals post.  I put in my order today for this lovely wall decal that will find its home in our laundry room.

I cannot wait to get this little jewel in the mail! :-)  I will definitely give a review and pictures once I get it hung.

Lastly, I am in the works of giving this little blog of mine a makeover.  After reading all of your comments I was positive that it was time for some change.  So, hopefully in the near future you will be seeing something new on this page (and something easier to read).  :-)

NOTE: Until the makeover is finalized I removed the blog design so everyone can read it. :-)

Have a wonderful afternoon!!!!

I Need Change!

Last week I received an email from a long time reader.  The reader informed me that she had a hard time reading my blog because the width of the text is larger than the columns, and the damask makes it difficult to see text.  I know when I look at my blog everything fits correctly but apparently this isn't always true for others.  Is anyone else having problems reading my blog because of this issue?!

I attempted to fix this in the past by reducing the body size but obviously it did not work.  :-(  I am definitely not very technologically savvy.

This brings me to my solution- I want to find someone to give this little blog of mine a much needed face lift.  I have been tossing around the idea for a very long time but due to the latest reading issues I definitely think I am ready to take the next step.

So blogland friends, I need your help once again.  I know, I am rather needy lately.......lol.  I would really appreciate any and all recommendations for vendors who do blog designs.  I have done some searching myself but what better way to find the perfect vendor than to ask those of you who have gone through this same process?!  Feel free to leave any and all advice on this process too since I am pretty clueless!

Thanks!!! :-)

Mindless Fridays

Okay, I saw this over on Lyndsie's blog A Love Worth Waiting For.  I normally don't do these but it's Friday and my brain has already left for the day so here goes nothing.

1. What are your middle names? Richard Elton aka Hubs and Laura Ann

2. How long have you been together? Since November of 2004 but if you ask our friends and family we have been together for longer.....lol
Hubs and I goofing off at Epcot while on our Honeymoon

3. How long did you know each other before you started dating? We had met each other my freshman year of college but never really hung out.  It wasn't until the summer between my sophomore and junior year that we started hanging out (2004).

4. Who asked who out? Hubs asked me out on a date to Oceanaire for dinner.

5. How old are each of you? Hubs is 28 and I am 26

6. Did you go to the same school? We both attended Butler University which is where we met. Go Dawgs!

7. Are you from the same home town? No

8. Who is the smartest? Hmmmm.....we could argue this one out! lol

9. Who majored in what? Hubs- International Business, Me- Accounting (started out in pharmacy but switched.....sometimes I wonder what I was thinking)

10. Who is the most sensitive? DEFINITELY me! I am the one who will cry over spilled milk which usually has Hubs laughing as he hugs his emotional train-wreck of a wife!

11. Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple? Hawaii- we went on a cruise with my parents during Thanksgiving break my senior year of college.

This picture was taken on our cruise in Hawaii
12. Who has the worst temper? Hubs. I keep teasing him that kids will eventually mellow him out! lol

13. How many children do you want? Haha! I have always said that 2 is my max (preferably one girl and one boy....I like to keep things even).  Hubs on the other hand has ALWAYS had this feeling that God will give him twin girls and a boy.  He better hope that boy comes first! lol

14. Who does the cooking? Mostly me but when Hubs cooks it is spectacular.  I am so jealous because he can just create dishes and throw ingredients together and it tastes wonderful.  Me on the other hand, I am a recipe follower.

15. Who is more social? Back in college I would have said me but thanks to Hubs job he is quite the social butterfly.  He thrives on meeting new people.  In fact, he loves when we get seated with people we don't know at weddings so that he can meet them.  Gotta love him! :-)

16. Who is the neat freak? Somewhat me.  Our house is a mess but I tend to obsess about certain things.  I am sure I drive Hubs nuts quite often.

17. Who is the most stubborn? We tie! We are both VERY stubborn and EXTREMELY competitive.  Makes for some interesting situations. lol

18. Who wakes up earlier? We usually wake up at the same time on week days but I tend to wake up earlier on weekends.  It just depends.  If there is a Manchester United game on at 6am on a Saturday you can bet your life savings that Hubs will be up and watching the game.  Unfortunately I don't get to sleep much if that is the case because I usually am startled awake by him screaming, "Way to go Rooney!!!!"

19. Where was your first date? Oceanaire......AH-MAZING seafood! That is also the restaurant he took me to after he proposed.

20. Who has the bigger family? Definitely me.  I have 3 half brothers and 2 half sisters which equates to LOTS of nieces and nephews. Hubs has 1 sister.

21. Do you get flowers often? Not that often.  We love to go out to eat so I would rather spend the money on that versus flowers.

22. How do you spend the holidays? We try our best to spend time with both sides but it can be difficult since his family lives 2 1/2 hours away.  Lately, because of Hubs' work schedule, his family has come to our house the weekend before Christmas to celebrate.

23. Who is more jealous? I don't think either of us are really jealous people.

24. How long did it take to get serious? We were good friends before we started dating so it did not take long at all for us to get serious.  Within a month of us dating I flew out to Arizona with Hubs and his family for his Uncle's wedding.  His family knew it was pretty serious since I was the first girl he had brought home for them to meet while in college.

25. Who eats more? We can both be piggies but we are working on that.  lol

26. What do you do for a living? Hubs is broker and I am an accountant for my parents' companies.

27. Who does the laundry? Me even though I hate laundry with a passion.  I don't mind doing laundry but it is the folding, matching socks, putting away part that I hate.  Whoever invents a system that washes, dries and folds laundry is going to be RICH! lol

28. Who's better with the computer? Hubs, definitely Hubs.

29. Who drives when you are together? Ehhh.....it's a coin toss. It tends to be whoever's car we take drives.

30. What is your song? "When You Love Someone" by Bryan Adams

Well, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  Enjoy the warmer weather and hopefully some sunshine! :-)

Laundry Room Decorating

Okay all you lovely blogland friends, I need your help!

I am in the process of decorating our newly made-over laundry room.  I have been fascinated with the entire concept of vinyl wall decor for a while now but have never really come up with a place to put one until now.  My only issue- I have found several that I like but just can't choose one.  Here are the ones that I like so far:

1.)

2.)
Photo via WeiWeisBabies

3.)

4.)

So this is where all of you lovely readers come in- which vinyl do you like best?!? Either leave me a comment or vote on the right hand side.

Lastly, for those of you who own vinyl wall decor, was there a particular vendor that you used?  Any recommendations?  Did you like the outcome of your vinyl wall decor?  Please tell me all about your experience!!!! Thanks!

Happy Hump Day!!!! :-D

Completely Disheartening.......

I woke up this morning and the sun was shining! Great start to the day. :-)

When I got to work I hopped onto a couple of news websites to catch up on worldly events.  My happy, go-lucky attitude quickly diminished after reading a particular article.

Say hello to Spike.  This poor little 11 month old English Bulldog puppy was beaten so badly by his owner that he will now walk around with a limp, be blind in his right eye and probably have severe psychological issues for the rest of his life.  You can read the full article at NBC New York.

My husband sent me the link to this story this morning.  I instantly burst into tears.  How could someone hurt such a sweet little face?!? How could someone possibly be so evil and heartless inside?!?  To make matters worse I watched the video that a neighbor had captured.  I was DEVASTATED!!!  The cries and screams that you hear from that poor defenseless puppy will haunt me.

This entire situation makes me furious!!! I am struggling to put my thoughts into words because I am so angry at this woman.  She doesn't even deserve the title of 'woman' or 'human being' so we shall refer to her from here on out as Satan's Spawn!  And what the hell was wrong with Satan's Spawn's husband?!?  He took the dog to the vet 12 different times in the course of 7 months.  That had to get VERY expensive!  Why didn't he stop Satan's Spawn from abusing this poor, innocent animal? Or was he in on the beatings too? If so, why would they even take Spike to the vet?  And how could the vet not suspect abuse or do anything about it?!? That vet has a responsibility to voice concern if he/she suspects abuse.

It seriously takes a very sick and twisted person to abuse a puppy or any animal for that matter.  All a dog wants to do is please its owner.  Dogs want their owner's love and affection.  They are such great companions, they do not judge and they will always listen.  How can one hurt someone or something that is just looking for love and to please?!? UGH!!! This situation has me so completely frustrated!

I wish someone would beat Satan's Spawn with a shovel! Yes, I said it and I mean it.  Call me a terrible person all you want but that is how I feel! Satan's Spawn has caused such damage (emotionally and physically) to this puppy that he will never fully heal.  This poor puppy will probably always cower around people.  He will never be able to look at a shovel without fear.  And he will spend the rest of his life limping around only being able to see out of one eye.  I hope they lock Satan's Spawn up and throw away the key but I know that will not happen.  SS will probably only get a slap on the hands knowing our wonderful {sarcastic} judicial system.  And to make it worse, SS will still probably be allowed to purchase an animal after this.

I just pray that Spike finds a wonderful family that loves him and shows him that not all people are evil.  This poor puppy has not had a good first year of life, hopefully he can live the rest of his life in happiness!

I will definitely go home after work and hug my two bullies.  You will find me cuddling on the couch with Buerly and Rooney tonight.

Spring Cleaning and Hoarding

Okay my lovely readers.....I need your help!  But before I ask, I need to give you a little background story first.  Here goes-

Hubs and I purchased our home in May of 2008.  We moved everything into the house and attempted to put things away the best we could but let's face it a lot of stuff just remained packed away in boxes that were stored either in closets or in the basement.

During much of 2009 home decorating and sorting were put on hold because of the wedding.  After the wedding we were able to use a lot of the money we had received towards items for the house (ie- new bed set, bedding, wine cabinet, etc.).  FedEx and UPS were my new found best friends though I am sure they loathed me considering they were stopping by our house daily with extremely heavy packages.  Purchasing new furniture and decor for the house really put me in the mood to finally start getting our house in order.

Fast forward to the present- I am still working on slowly getting rooms decorated and things put away in their proper place or packed away for Goodwill.  This process has left me feeling VERY overwhelmed {you know, that throw your arms in the air and scream feeling?!?}.  As I go through the closets I cannot believe how much stuff crap there is.  I feel like I spend most of my time moving piles from one room to another, unsure what to do with them.  It is AMAZING how much stuff two people can accumulate.  I am terrified at the thought of having children....additional people in the house accumulating items that get shoved in closets or drawers.

Two of our big issues are-
1. ) We have accumulated a ton of decor for our basement {ie- the man cave} but since the basement is not finished it cannot go down there yet (autographed sports memorabilia, bar ware, etc.)
2.) We have spent the past 6 months looking for a new desk for our office.  We have searched high and low attempting to find the perfect piece but have had zero luck.  I finally found a desk that I love but I am not in love with the price.....figures, right?!?  Our current desk has very little storage space which makes it difficult to stay organized with all of our desk-ware (is that even a word).

But my BIGGEST issue is........I am somewhat of a hoarder.  Nothing like you see on those shows on A&E TV.  Thoughts such as-
"But what if I need this later on?"
"I am sure we can find a place for this eventually."
"If I lose 5 more pounds this will look great on me."
"This was a gift so I would feel bad getting rid of it even though we probably won't use it."

tend to run through my mind.  And can we discuss all the trinket-y shit that is in our house?!? Oh good grief! I do not even begin to have enough shelf space or display area for it all but yet I keep it.  This entire situation just has me so overwhelmed.  The worst part is common sense says to get rid of that stuff but I just can't bring myself to do it.  ARGH!!! What is wrong with me?!?
Don't worry.....my hoarding issues are not even close to the situations you see on A&E TV.  I would die!

Does anyone else out there in blog land have this issue?!? What do/did you do to solve this problem?!  Please help a girl out and give me some advice! Thanks in advance!

Lastly, any suggestions on where to find a reasonably priced desk for our office?!? We have looked at Kittles, Pottery Barn, Staples, Office Depot, Ashley Furniture, etc.

Have a wonderful Thursday! One more day until the weekend! Whoot whoot!

Reason #238 of why I should have renewed my Onstar

Hubs and I drove over to my parents house the other night to give my dad his birthday present (his birthday isn't until April but due to the nature of the gift we had to give it to him early) and then go out to dinner.  I pulled into their driveway and parked in front of my mom's garage.  I started to grab my purse but decided to just leave it in the car since we would only be going in for a couple of minutes before we hit the road to go to dinner.

Me, being the genius, moron, that I am, also decided to leave my keys in the car.  I shut the door behind me and before I could take a step towards the house I heard the seat belt chime ring twice, the locks lock and the horn blare.

Oh EFF!!!

I ran to my drivers side door and gave the door a tug......nothing.  The worst part of all!? My keys were sitting on the drivers seat just teasing and mocking me.  Hubs just looked at me bewildered as I mumbled and cursed away.  After about a minute or two I think he figured out what had just happened.  The worst part about all of this- I was almost positive that my spare set of keys were also in my purse which was locked in the car.  Note: Typically my spare keys are kept in a drawer at home but we couldn't find the regular set one morning and were in a big rush so I just grabbed the spare set and forgot to put them back.
Pretty sure I looked a little more frazzled as I went from door to door, tugging on every door handle.  In my head I was screaming 'Idiot' at myself.

After a failed attempt to locate my keys at my house I was convinced that the spare set was in my purse.  Hubs suggested that I call Onstar to see if they could unlock my car even though I had never renewed my subscription.  No dice.  If I had renewed my subscription they would have been able to unlock my car instantly.  I even inquired if they could unlock my doors if I renewed right then and there.....of course not!

So my dad called a locksmith.  $75 freaking dollars later my car was unlocked!

Lessons Learned:
1. Never forget to put your spare key back where they should go
2. My car is possessed and should never be trusted with the keys left in the car
3. I need to renew my Onstar subscription ASAP!

Have a great Wednesday!!! :-)
