Just Throw Your Hands Up and Laugh....
That is how I feel right now! One would think that non-wedding related stuff might be helpful right now to distract me from the fact that we still have no pastor.......you would think! Let me fill you in on my morning......
I was on my way out the door for work this morning when I got a feeling that I should go check the basement (note: always listen to gut feelings). If you are from the Midwest you know that we had some pretty awful storms last night with a TON of rain. I walked down to the basement and to my relief all I saw was a dry basement. Thank goodness......or so I thought! I listened for the sump pump and something did not sound quite right so I checked. To my horror, I discovered water had flooded the pit of the sump pump to the brim! I thought to myself, "GREAT! Just what I need!" So, I drove like a bat out of hell to a tool rental place to rent a portable pump. On my way I had the plumber on the phone dispatching someone immediately. By the time I got home with the pump water had started to creep out into our basement. When the plumber pulled the old sump pump out water rushed into our basement. We couldn't keep up with the water between the shop vac and the portable pump.
Sooooo.....$450 later we have a brand new sump pump! Future hubby, the plumber, and myself spent the rest of the morning cleaning up the water with a mop and a shop vac. Oh, and many of you maybe thinking- "why doesn't she have a battery back-up?!?" Oh, we definitely HAD (key word....had) a battery back up but it was fried by the storm last night and was out of commission this morning. The plumber is installing a new one of those on Monday. I about choked when I heard the price of the battery backup......$1,150 better keep my basement dry!
All in all I am in good spirits because it could have been a lot worse! If I had not followed my gut feeling we could have been dealing with inches or even feet of water. I still don't have a pastor and I am out some money but there are worse things that could have happened! I just look at it as, I apparently don't have enough adventure in my life right now! Hehe!
Have a great Thursday! One more day until the weekend!
Oh, and 100 days until we are officially married!!!! YAY!!!
