Our Perfect Day: The Hair and Makeup

Preface: I have a TON of pictures to share with you so I apologize for this being so long!

After the limo bus picked us up at the Westin we headed to Exclusives Salon & Day Spa to get our hair done or as hubs would say 'our hair did'. My bridesmaid's aunt is not only my regular hairdresser but her and her husband own the salon. The salon is in a cute, old house.....perfect for pictures! The upstairs has been turned into a bridal party room which was great. We could be loud, fix our mimosa's and not worry about disturbing other patrons. It was definitely a great start to the day!

I loved, loved, loved my hair!

Say hello to my pimp cup! haha! Rich's aunt gave me this adorable wine glass as a bridal shower gift. Mmmmmm.......mimosa's in the morning!

(Jessica of Tying the Knot)

Beth Jerrels of Champagne & Lipstick, LLC came to the salon to do my makeup. She is AH-MAZING! If you are an Indy bride I highly, highly recommend her! At my makeup trial I handed the reigns over to Beth and she nailed it! I couldn't have been happier with my wedding day look!

(Tara, Rylie, and Debbie)
Ry (the flowergirl) had the cutest little tank top and jean skirt that had "I'm the Flower Girl" embrodered on the front of the top and the butt of her skirt. Her mother does a fantastic job of making sure that she is stylin!

(Trace)
I LOVE this picture. I dunno what it is about it but I love it!

Texting the hubs! :-D

Ry loved getting her hair done. She did such a good job sitting still!

(Adrienne)

After we were done at the salon we all piled into the limo to head back to the hotel for some lunch and to get dressed.

Vendor Reviews-

Vendor: Exclusives Salon & Day Spa
Grade: A+
Comments: The private upstairs room was perfect for our bridal party- very spacious. All the girls brought their makeup and were able to do their makeup in between getting hair done (very convenient). The hair dressers did a GREAT job on everyone's hair. They all looked gorgeous! I know I am bias but I had some very hot bridesmaids. All the groomsmen sure agreed with me! :-)
The prices were VERY reasonable ($30-$60/person) and the salon was very timely. I was worried about my timeline but they made sure we were out of there on time.

Vendor: Beth Jerrels of Champagne and Lipstick, LLC
Grade: A+
Comments: Beth made me feel like a princess but at the same time I still felt like myself! I didn't feel like the makeup was globbed on and trust me....if it was my blunt hubs would tell me. I cannot believe I am admitting this but the makeup was still flawless by the next day (yes, I was too tired/lazy to wash my face that night....don't judge me). Her pricing is very reasonable. I cannot say enough about Beth! Indy brides.....call her! I promise, you won't be disappointed!

Recommendations:
  1. Get your makeup and hair done - you will have so much on your mind. The last thing you want to worry about is your makeup and hair. Your makeup will last so much longer if you get it done professionally (ie- makeup still look pretty darn good the next day.....okay, judge away).
  2. Airbrushing- try to find a makeup artist that does airbrushing. I do not wear powder or foundation regularly so the thought of wearing it on my wedding day didn't really appeal to me. Airbrushing makes you look flawless and it is so light you do not even notice you are wearing anything. And when you get hot and sweaty from dancing......no shine! LOVED IT!
  3. Allow lots of cushion time for hair and makeup - I built in cushion time for this but luckily we really didn't need it. Things can and will go wrong so please do not add stress....build in cushion time (this can be said for the entire day).
  4. Trial Run- in my opinion this is a must! Your stress levels will be soooo much lower. I walked into the salon that morning, plopped into my chair and chatted with my friends knowing that everything was under control. Just because a hair style looks great in pictures doesn't mean that it will look the same on you or even be feasible depending on your hair length/texture (trust me.....I learned this in my trial). Same can be said with makeup. In the end.....totally worth the money!
  5. Brooches make GREAT hair pieces - I never was able to find a hair clip that I liked so I opted for a brooch. I wanted something simple but didn't have any luck. Two days before the wedding I was running errands and popped into the Swarovski store and found exactly what I was looking for. My hairdresser just used to bobby pins to secure it and it stayed in my hair all night! Here is an up close look at my brooch:
