Asking My Friends to be Bridesmaids

I really wanted to do something special and creative for each of my Bridesmaids when I asked them to be a part of Rich and I's wedding since they spending money and taking time out to help us celebrate a very special day in our lives. I thought long and hard of something practical and fun that I could do for each of them. Here is what I came up with:

(Each girl received a hand painted wine glass that matched their eye and hair color. Glasses were found at Von Maur)

(Wine came from Buck Creek Winery)

All of my Bridesmaids enjoy a good glass of wine (as do I). So, I talked to the owner of the winery and together we created custom labels for the bottle that read...
The day, the dress
The bride, the groom
The joy, the tears
Will all come so soon
Professing true love
To my husband-to-be
With family and friends
All watching me
I hope the sun will
Be shining down,
Keep your fingers crossed
That I'll fit in my gown…
But there's just one more thing
that there needs to be…
and that's to have you
Standing with me!
Will you be my bridesmaid?

Each label had a calla lily as the background (since we all know my obsession with calla lilies). Lastly, with the bottle of wine and the wine glass I put together a card that had a picture of Rich and I.

Each Bridesmaid seemed to love the personal touch and creativity of the gift! Hopefully all will get good use out of the wine glasses and enjoy the bottle of wine! Most of all, I am blessed to have such great friends and future sister-in-law who are all going to be a part of our big day!!!

What creative things did you do to ask your friends to be Bridesmaids?

Since Landon and I met becuase of baseball and we are both huge fans, we incorporated baseball into asking both our groomsmen and maids. We ordered Titlist baseball hats for all of our party with their favorite baseball team, we chose the titlist hats because we're getting married on a golf course. Landon came up with a great little tid bit/poemesk saying that asked them to be in our wedding. For the kiddos, since our dog Minne is in our wedding, we took a photo of Minne in front of a sign that said "will you walk me down the aisle for my mommy and daddy's wedding?" We had the picture placed on a notebook for the kiddos.

This is really sweet. Its really nice that you put in such an effort to make it special knowing all that they will go through (and spend) for you. I couldn't contain myself so I called my girls that afternoon. However, for my maid of honor I bought a frame that was an ornament and in the frame wrote "Will you by my Maid of Honor" and gave it to her for Xmas. It went over really well.

Oh these are so sweet. My girls are spread out all over the place, so I put together a little booklet for each of them which included the major details of the wedding and what each of them meant to me.

If I was having a wedding I'd have a hard time deciding who would be my best man.
