Accessories

Isn't it the best feeling when you come home to find a box sitting on your front porch when you weren't even expecting a delivery?!? I feel like a giddy little kid at Christmas. I rush inside to find out what that mystery box contains! :-)

One package that I recently received contained three wedding day accessories. I was so excited when I saw the return sender because I knew what the box contained- my garters and dress label!!!! I ordered the garters and dress label from MondeDesign on Etsy.

Here is my dress label which turned out fabulous!
My mom is going to sew the dress label into my dress once we pick the dress up from the bridal boutique.

And here are my lovely garters! Shelli at MondeDesign did such a great job matching the colors! Here is the toss away garter:

(Sorry, both garters are the same color- one picture was taken with the flash on and the other without the flash) I think it is safe to say that I will not be quitting my job in accounting to become a photographer! lol

And here is the garter that we will keep. The only difference between the toss away garter and the keeper is one small detail. If you look very closely you can see that there is a charm on the garter we will keep.
Being Butler Bulldog alums and owning two wonderful bulldogs, we had to have a little bulldog charm on the garter! :-) Future hubby LOVED the garter with the bullie!

A special thanks to Shelli at MondeDesign for creating the perfect accessories for our wedding day! If you are looking for a garter or dress label I highly recommend that you go on over to MondeDesign and talk to Shelli. What special wedding day accessories will you have!?

I have my second hair trial tonight so please keep your fingers crossed that everything turns out perfect!!! Have a wonderful Tuesday!!!

Caffeine Needed.....desperately

I got the worst night of sleep in a very long time last night (we are talking maybe a couple of hours and that is being generous). I don't know if it is because I have a lot on my mind with the wedding and other stuff or if my body decided to reset its internal clock (I am weird like that.....). Regardless, with only 26 days before the wedding (EEK, only 26 days left) I have an extremely busy week ahead of me and I don't have time to be tired or get sick for that matter! Here is the good ol' lineup!

  1. Monday
    1. Finish catching up on laundry (a never ending process)
    2. Determine wording for menu cards and guest favor cards
    3. Mow the lawn and try to figure out why our grass is dying even though we water and pay to have it treated! Very puzzling and quite annoying.
    4. Grocery shopping......have I ever mentioned that I loathe grocery shopping?!? If not, I do!
  2. Tuesday
    1. Second hair trial- I loved the way my hair turned out on my first hair trial but future hubby wasn't as enthused. He wanted to see something more formal so I am going to make him sit down with me and look through hair styles.
    2. Mail out thank you notes from bridal showers (don't worry, recaps coming soon).
    3. Call jeweler to see if future hubby's wedding band is finished (please let third try be the charm.....fingers crossed)
  3. Wednesday
    1. Meet with SRC coordinator to go over logistics (fingers are crossed that they allow bubbles.....I know, shame on me for not finding out sooner.....lol)
    2. Phone call with Stephanie to go over DOC timeline.
  4. Thursday
    1. Make up trial with Beth Jerrels of Champagne and Lipstick. VERY excited for this!!!!
    2. Possibly stop by Crooked Stick to see the US Senior Open (thanks Dad for the tickets)
    3. Make call to find out if WW3 will be waged against my mortgage company....gotta love mortgage companies who don't understand what the term arrears means....absolutely unbelievable!
  5. Friday
    1. Possibly stop by Crooked Stick to see the US Senior Open.....depends on what I have left to do
    2. Drink beer
As you can see......pretty busy week ahead of me! I may be enlisting the help of my good friend, Starbucks (better known by my future father-in-law as five bucks....hehe). Do you have a lot to accomplish this week?!? Anything exciting that you are looking forward to?!?

Have a great Monday!

I have a lot to post about this week so be sure to stop back by!!! :-)

Our Invitations

Okay, as promised, I am posting about our invitations!!! I absolutely loved the way that our invitations and envelopes turned out. (Warning: this is a LONG post but I need to make up for my absence and a lot of it is pictures)

Let me preface this post by saying a couple of things-
  1. These pictures no where near do our invitations and envelopes justice! If I could mail each and every one of you an invite just so you could see how gorgeous they turned out I would (I am definitely not on the modest side today but the vendors did such an amazing job)! Well, that could be costly but you know what I am saying.
  2. Either my camera sucks or I am a terrible photographer because no matter how hard I tried I could not get clear pictures. This is also the reason that I have yet to post a picture of my engagement ring.....I can't get a clear picture! I am guessing that it is all operator error. :-)
  3. I don't know what I was thinking when I took these pictures on our green place mats. I swear that our place mats are not that hideous! Unfortunately, the green background doesn't look very pleasant so please excuse the background color!
And now on to the envelopes-

Envelopes done by Jessica Lynn at Penned & Pretty (pictures do not do justice)

Jessica Lynn over at Penned & Pretty did the calligraphy for our envelopes. They turned out gorgeous! I have received so many compliments on the envelopes. A few people told me that they didn't even want to open the envelope because they looked so pretty. My favorite comment by far was between two family members.

Family Member 1: She had a friend from college do the calligraphy for the envelopes. You should see how gorgeous they turned out!
Family Member 2: I have seen calligraphy before and yes, it is pretty!
Family Member 1: No, trust me, you have not seen this style of calligraphy before. It is STUNNING!!!! Just wait, you will see.
.......a week later.......
Family Member 2: Oh my gosh! You were right! The calligraphy work was absolutely gorgeous! I love how unique the style is! I like this style more than the traditional calligraphy styles that you always see!

For those of you who are still in the early planning stages of your wedding - I HIGHLY recommend Jessica Lynn. Her rates are very affordable and she is very timely about getting your envelopes done. Penned & Pretty will definitely make sure your envelopes turn out stunning!

Moving along......here is our invitation suite:

We used thermography for the lettering on our invitations. I love to run my fingers over the print and feel the raised lettering. The lettering also has a shimmer to it that I love! Thermography definitely added a level of elegance to the invitations!

April Foster of April Foster Events designed our invitations. Let me just say, she was AH-MAZING to work with! She did such a phenomenal job creating the invitation suite that I had envisioned for our wedding, actually she surpassed what I had envisioned. I have received so many compliments from friends and family regarding our invitations! Words cannot express how happy I am with the end result. I know I have said this before but the pictures do not do the invitations justice. That actual colors of the invites turned out beautiful (taupe and champagne).

I highly recommend April when it comes to invitations! Her prices are very affordable, she is timely, and she knows what she is doing! April also does planning and after seeing pictures of the weddings she has planned........she is a heck of a planner! If you haven't already go visit her blog, you will see what I am talking about!

A special thanks goes out to my future in-laws and future hubby! My FMIL, FFIL, FSIL, Future Hubby and I put the invitations together at Future Hubby's parents house. It was definitely a lot of work but the end product was well worth the time (plus we saved money by assembling the invitations ourselves)! I wish I had taken pictures of Future Hubby and his dad working on the invites because it was too funny. It is probably best that I do not have pictures because they would probably kill me if I posted those! :-)

I hope that you enjoyed our invitations! I was extremely happy with the vendors we used and would recommend them to anyone! Did you have any vendors in the planning process that surpassed your expectations?!?

Happy Wednesday!!!! It's hump day!!! I am ready for today to be over with because tomorrow I have my second dress fitting! YAY!!!!

Busy Weekend.....Again!

I keep looking at the clock wishing for it to be 3:30 so that my weekend can officially begin! Unfortunately, it is only 9:00 so I have a ways to go!

After work I have my first hair trial! Yipee!!! Here are some of my inspiration pictures from this post that will be recreated tonight after work:

Keep your fingers crossed! I am hoping that I can get by with only one hair trial. Is that too much to ask for?!?

On Saturday I have my second bridal shower! I am so excited! My first bridal shower was spectacular and I will be posting pictures as soon as I get my camera working (as well as pictures of our invites).

What are your plans for the weekend? Are you running around like a wild lady all weekend or spending a nice relaxing weekend at home?

Whatever your plans may be, have a wonderful weekend!

Have a wonderful Friday!!!!

I'm Back......Sorta

Sorry but today is going to be a short post! I feel like I hit the ground running and have yet to stop!

Yesterday marked the 40 day countdown!!! As of today, 39 days and I will be walking down that aisle!! Very excited!!!

That being said, I still have a lot to get done- wedding projects and home DIY projects. I was going to post picture of our invites today but decided that I wanted to retake some of the pictures. So, hopefully tomorrow you will find a post about our invites that turned out perfect in every way! :-)

Happy Tuesday!!!

UPDATE: My stupid camera battery died as I was trying to upload pictures so I will not be posting pictures of our invites until Thursday! Don't ya hate when that happens?!?

Meet Future Hubby!

In my last post I gave you the opportunity to ask future hubby and I questions. Here are the answers-

Question #1 - I would like to know what Rich is most excited about on the wedding day itself?
Future Hubby's response: I actually have two things I am most excited about. Seeing her walk down the aisle and our first dance. I am kinda relieved we are going to see each other before the wedding for pictures. I wanted the first time to be when she enters the cathedral but I know I would probably lose it. Secondly, we had such a hard time finding our song. We have had so many fun ones throughout the years but not one that really said to us, "This is the one". Thankfully, we found one that we knew was perfect the moment we danced to it in our living room.

Question #2 - Was there anything he wanted for the wedding, any special requests?
Future Hubby's response: Well, since the baby blue 70's tux with the ruffles and over-sized lapels was nixed, I would have to say..........WOW, I pretty much got the shaft on special requests. Just joking (yes, I was smacked by you know who for the shaft comment) Truth is, I have been working so much that I was lucky to have Lo take care of most of the planning. I am pretty excited about the party bus though (my idea). P.S. The velour track suits with Mr. T gold chains and beer pong tournament were also nixed.

Question #3 - What is the one thing you love about each other best?
Future Hubby's response: Thats a tough question. There are so many. Well, here are a few of my favorite things (queue Sound Of Music: My favorite things) I love that she can name the starting line up of every team I love and has suggested names for our Bulldogs based upon the players. i.e. Buerly (Mark Buerhle of the Chicago White Sox) and Rooney (Wayne Rooney of Manchester United FC) I love that she can chug an entire beer and shake the rafters with a belch that would make "Booger" from Revenge of the Nerds proud. I love how she looks when holding my niece and nephew (she is gonna be one hot mama) I love how she covers her mouth and makes this high pitched "EEEEE" sound when she gets excited. I love that I can take her out to the most expensive restaurant or an Irish/English pub and she can have a wonderful time at either. And most of all, I love that we are just a good if not better friends than we were in college. These are a few of my favorite things!

Question #4 - What does he think of Michael Owen joining Man U? ;)
Future Hubby's response: Oh boy, Mr. Owen. "Flashback of 2003 League Cup" What can I say about the Red Devil killer. I'm torn. I thought I had gotten over the dislike (hate is such a strong word) of this guy until I saw the replay on FSC in which he put 2 goals past United at Old Trafford. Two days later, he is signed. I like the deal. No transfer fee, basic salary, and a load of experience to pass on to an up and coming group of youngster looking to get into the starting 11. I think he still has something to prove and if healthy he can contribute. Even if playing on a bum leg, he has to look more enthusiastic than Berbatov. I've seen EMOs with more enthusiasm for life.

Thank you for the questions and hopefully reading my answers aka ramblings.

And back to LauraAnn - Isn't he the sweetest?!? I think you can all see why I am marrying this wonderful man! He is my best friend and the love of my life! I hope that you enjoyed getting to know my future hubby a little better. And if you have anymore questions for him please feel free to ask away! Have a wonderful night!!!

Up next: THE INVITES!!!!!

A BIG Sigh of Relief!

Our invitations went into the mail today, 151 invitations to be exact!!!! I am ready to jump for joy aside from the fact that the stupid post office wanted $1.22/invite......ridiculous, I know! Regardless, I feel like a huge burden has been lifted off of my shoulders!

I received the invitations on Thursday and the envelopes on Friday. After several hours at the dining room table with future MIL, future SIL, future FIL and future hubby the invites are done!!!!! A special thanks goes out to future hubby and his family for all the help because I would have probably pulled my hair out if it hadn't been for all the great help (aside from future hubby trying to find a more efficient method and eventually coming to the conclusion that sending everyone an email would be more economical and efficient.....gotta love my future husband....lol)!

I can't tell you how happy I am with how the invites and envelopes turned out! Words cannot describe!!!! Thank you April of April Foster Events for designing our invitation suite. They turned out stunning!!! And a big thanks also goes to Jessica at Penned & Pretty/Tying the Knot for making our envelopes look absolutely amazing!!!! Don't worry, a preview will be coming soon!!!!! Sorry to be a tease!

But I will leave you with this stunning picture-

Have a wonderful Monday!!!!

Our Guest Book

In my last post I discussed the laundry list of items that I was able to accomplish. One of the big items that I checked off the list was our guest book. I knew that I didn't want a traditional guest book so I opted for making a guest book. Plan A was to make a scrap book. I was going to leave every other page blank for guests to sign. It seemed like a fantastic idea until I realized that I would have to search high and low for our pictures (still packed up from our move last year) and we are only 51 days away from the wedding. I scratched that idea and moved on to Plan B- Shutterfly. Shutterfly is a website that allows a person to upload their pictures and create scrapbooks. It is VERY user friendly! I have used Snapfish before and was very pleased with the results but after comparing the options I decided on using Shutterfly this time.

Here are some of the pages (please excuse the blurriness and the fact that I had to take a snap shot of the computer screen.....and yes, that other tab is People.com you see.....lol)-
Our cover page which reads (the spine of the book reads the same thing):
Richard & Laura August 22, 2009

Title Page which reads:
Our Wedding Guest Book
August 22, 2009
Once Upon a Time.....

Example of a page

Another example of a page with one side blank for guests to sign

Last page which reads:
And they lived happily ever after.
The end.

I used our engagement pictures (Angela Talley Studio) which we had a TON of so I alternated between having pictures on both sides and having a picture on one side with a blank page on the other side. I think we have over 100 pages.....more than enough! I will admit......I did cheat. Once I uploaded the pictures I selected 'Auto-Fill'. This option was AH-MAZING!!!! Highly recommend it. The pages flow better than I could have ever done!!!

Here is my question for you- I chose to do a hard cover with our picture but there are other cover options (see below). Should I stick with my original choice or opt for something different? There is a poll to the right hand side so please vote and let me know!

What are you doing/did for your guest book? Are you branching away from the traditional route?!?

Have a wonderful 4th of July weekend! Safe travels to all those traveling over the weekend!!!

A Big Day

Today is my nephew, Ty's, first birthday! He is so stinking cute! Yes, I am biased but look at that sweet smile and tell me differently!!!

Not only is he adorable but he is ALL boy! There is no obstacle too big for him. He will climb anything. He definitely keeps his mommy on her toes at all times!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TYLER!!!!! Uncle Rich and I will see you tonight or tomorrow!!!!
LOVE YOU!!!
